Liz Ikiriko: Flags of Unsung Countries

Flags of Unsung Countries charts Liz Ikiriko's journey to understand her late father's experiences as an African immigrant living in the Canadian prairies. Documenting places in Nigeria and Canada that hold meaning for the artist and her father, Ikiriko traces similar geographical shifts as those separated from their  ancestral homelands. Ideas about family, home, and belonging are expressed through the images and objects in the installation. Boundaries between past and present are reimagined.

This exhibition asks several questions. What is required of a home? Do we choose to belong or does belonging choose us?
